About M. J. Coad
I Was bornin 1989 in a small Australian town called Seymour, which is a smidge over 100km north of Melbourne. However, during my childhood, as an army brat, I moved frequently. From Victoria to Queensland, then on to New South Wales, the Northern Territory and eventually back to Victoria again. My final move was to Tasmania and that is where I still reside. I have never considered any of these places to be home, not really, but Tasmania comes the closest.
From an early age I have enjoyed reading, oft times devouring a whole book in a single day. Growing up, amongst the myriad of one-offs and young adult series I can no longer remember the names of, I gravitated towards the fantastical tales of Tolkien, Rowling, Feist, Pratchett, and Martin. To name but a few. I have never stopped reading, although I have slowed down, and, if I have anything to say about it, I never will.
For me, studying at university was never in question, it was always something that I was going to do. However, throughout my six years of study a the University of Tasmania, culminating in a Masters of Teaching, I never really knew what I wanted to be, just that it was not a teacher. It was by chance, that I discovered the Critical Role YouTube channel and the world of tabletop RPG’s. The spark of inspiration struck. Deciding to combine my love for reading with the joy I found in playing games, and watching others play them, I began to write, crafting a world of my own.
Now, I spend the majority of my time writing, or thinking about what to write. Reading comes in at a close second, followed by watching YouTube, miniature painting and gaming.
